Thane Imposes Strict Ban on Loose Petrol Sales
Thane District Collector, Dr Shrikrishna Panchal, under the provisions of the Petroleum Rules 2002, has immediately banned the sale of fuel in open form from all petrol pumps in the district.
Customers cannot purchase loose petrol or diesel in plastic bottles, cans, boxes, or any other type of container under any circumstances. To maintain safety at pumps, it is now mandatory to keep CCTV systems operational 24 hours a day and maintain regular records of fuel sales.
Violation of these rules will result in strict punitive and criminal action under Bharat Petroleum Rules 2002, the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita 2003, and the Disaster Management Act 2005. The police commissioners of Thane, Navi Mumbai, and Mira Bhayandar, as well as the Thane Rural Superintendent of Police, have been instructed to take necessary action.
This order has come into effect immediately from March 27 and will remain in force until further notice.
