Former chief minister Devendra Fadnavis visits Thane

On Monday, former Maharashtra chief minister and leader of opposition in Maharashtra assembly visited Thane, which has recorded over 10,000 coronavirus positive cases. During his visit, he suggested a slew of measures to contain the spread of the pandemic. He recommended that the state government should pay more heed to the municipal corporations, whose financial condition is bleak and have shortage of manpower and infrastructure. Fadvanis also visited the quarantine centers in Thane and the newly set up 1,000-bed COVID-19 care facility in Balkum. In addition, he met Dr. Vipin Sharma, the Thane Municipal commissioner. The former CM reckoned that the COVID-19 test results should be made available within 24 hours, as the delay often leads to the administration’s inability to provide timely treatment. He added, “The daily test count needs to be increased. This will help to get more clarity about the extent of the spread of the disease, and also a solution to tackle the healthcare crisis can be found. Also there shouldn’t be any endeavour to conceal data related, as it would worsen the handling of the situation.”
