Yeoor’s Illegal Constructions to Be Tracked and Removed Soon.

The Yeoor forest area, located near Sanjay Gandhi National Park, has seen a steady rise in illegal commercial structures over the years — including hotels, resorts, party venues, and other setups that often flout environmental rules.

In a strong move, Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) Commissioner Abhijit Bangar has ordered a month-long survey to identify all unauthorized residential and commercial buildings within this sensitive eco-zone. The survey will be jointly carried out by the municipality, forest department, and police, with strict action to follow.

A coordination committee will also be set up to monitor illegal activities in the Yeoor region, ensure smoother communication between departments, and prevent future violations.

Officials noted that this green belt, once rich with biodiversity, is now facing severe ecological pressure due to unchecked encroachments. Citizens have long raised concerns over rising noise pollution, traffic, and improper waste management during events and parties.

With development plans under process and a 2025 state deadline for proper zoning, the administration is now moving fast to bring order and protect Yeoor’s natural heritage.
