Women’s U23 One Day Trophy: Odisha thrash Mizoram by 301 runs

Centurions Tanmayee Behera and Kusum Tiriya powered Odisha to a mammoth 301-run win over Mizoram on Sunday at the Dadoji Konddeo Stadium in Thane during the Women’s U23 One Day Trophy.

Batting first, Odisha posted 346/4 in 50 overs, riding on Behera’s (126 runs off 104 balls) and Tiriya’s (110 runs off 109 balls) scintillating knocks. The duo stitched a 196-run partnership for the second wicket smacking the Mizoram bowlers all around the park. Besides Rin Mawii (1/50) and Sandhia Rai (1/28), none of the other bowlers could pick up a wicket for Mizoram.

In reply, Mizoram were bowled out for a paltry 45 in 39 overs. Rai (18 runs off 61 balls) was the only batter for Mizoram to score in double digits. Sushree Anita Singh was the most successful bowler for Odisha as she claimed three wickets in five overs giving away no runs. Taranna Pradhan (2/12) and Sonali Hembram (2/19) also had a good outing with the ball.

Dadoji Konddeo Stadium will host the next match of the Women’s U23 One Day Trophy on Tuesday. It will be between Mizoram and Sikkim.
