After winning all three matches in the league stage, defending champions India are ready to take on Bangladesh in the first semi-final of the Women’s T20 Asia Cup. The 2018 winners of the Asia Cup Bangladesh, who won two of the three league matches in the tournament, would look to put up a tough fight. So, the stage is all set, as Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium is geared to witness a classic contest between India and Bangladesh on Friday.

Players to watch out

Shafali Verma: This right-handed opening batter of India has been in excellent form having muscled 158 runs in three matches at a blistering strike rate of 166 and average of 53. She is the top run scorer for India and second highest overall in the tournament.

Deepti Sharma: This right-arm off spinner of India is the leading wicket-taker in the tournament with eight wickets in three matches, including two three-wicket hauls. She has been bowling at an economy of 4.7. Besides her bowling, she can contribute with the bat in the lower order.

Murshida Khatun: This left-handed opening batter of Bangladesh has struck two half-centuries in as many games. She has given good starts to her team and will be expected to do so in the semi-final against India.

Nahida Akter: This left-arm spinner of Bangladesh has five wickets in three matches in this tournament with an economy of just 3.25. She has bowled well inside the powerplay and attacked the stumps consistently.

 

 

 

Pitch

The pitch will be favourable for batting. Expect plenty of runs. However, the bowlers, who make good use of the breezy conditions could earn rich dividends in the form of wickets.
