After an emphatic win over arch rivals Pakistan by seven wickets, defending champions India are ready to take on UAE in match number five of the Women’s T20 Asia Cup on Sunday at Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium. Players to watch out
Smriti Mandhana: This left-handed opening batter of India top scored in her last match against Pakistan. The southpaw smashed 45 from 31, including nine hits to the fence. She stitched a crucial 85-run partnership with her opening partner Shafali Verma in the run chase.
Deepti Sharma: This world number three T20I bowler won the player of the match award in her last outing against Pakistan when she scalped 3/20 in four overs. India will bank on this off spinner to pick wickets at regular intervals. Besides her bowling, she is an excellent middle order batter.
Khushi Sharma: This right-handed middle-order batter of UAE was the leading run getter for her team in the last fixture against Nepal. Batting at number six, she mustered 36 off 39, finding the fence twice. She also bowled one over with the new ball conceding six runs.
Kavisha Egodage: This UAE all-rounder made useful contributions with bat and ball in her last encounter against Nepal. With the bat, she scored 22 off 26, including two fours and with the ball, bowling off spin, claimed 3/12 in four overs, including one maiden.
Pitch
It will be the fifth match of the tournament at this venue. The teams batting second have won three of the four matches. Spinners have dominated the competition so far. Besides the breezy conditions have offered help to the medium pacers. Though the pitch will favour the batters, expect the bowlers to give them a tough time.
