This Women’s T20 Asia Cup’s two unbeaten teams come face to face in the final on Sunday at Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium as defending champions India take on hosts Sri Lanka.

Head-to-Head

India have won 19 T20Is against Sri Lanka, whereas Sri Lanka have won just four against India. In the Asia Cup, Sri Lanka have never defeated India in the four meetings that they have had, including the final of 2022 Women’s T20 Asia Cup.

Squads

India: Harmanpreet Kaur (C), Richa Ghosh (WK), Uma Chetry (WK), Smriti Mandhana (VC), Shafali Verma, Deepti Sharma, Pooja Vastrakar, Arundhati Reddy, Jemimah Rodrigues, Renuka Thakur, Dayalan Hemalatha, Asha Sobhana, Radha Yadav, Tanuja Kanwer, Sajana Sajeevan.

Sri Lanka: Chamari Athapaththu (c), Anushka Sanjeewani, Harshitha Samarawickrama, Hasini Perera, Ama Kanchana, Udeshika Prabodani, Vishmi Gunarathne, Kawya Kavindi, Inoshi Priyadarshani, Sugandika Kumari, Achini Kulasooriya, Kaveesha Dilhari, Nilakshi De Silva, Sachini Nisansala, Shashini Gimhani

Players to watch out

Smriti Mandhana: This left-handed opening batter of India smashed an unconquered half century in the semi-final against Bangladesh. She has been in good form in this competition, with 113 runs in three innings. She has been scoring at a blistering strike rate of 143.

Deepti Sharma: This right-arm off spinner of India has been impressive with nine wickets in four matches in this tournament. She has been bowling economical spells and conceding less than 4.5 runs per over. Though she has not yet got the opportunity to bat in this competition, there is no doubt about her skill with the willow.

Chamari Athapaththu: The Sri Lanka captain is the top run scorer in this tournament with 243 runs in four matches. This left-handed opening batter has won player of the match award in three of the four matches. Besides her batting, she can make valuable contributions with the ball, bowling off spin.

Kavisha Dilhari: This Sri Lankan all-rounder is the leading wicket-taker for her side in this tournament with seven wickets. She may not have chipped in with too many runs in this competition but there is enough evidence about her batting talent.

Pitch

The pitch is expected to produce tons of runs. India and Sri Lanka boast of power-packed batting and the batters will enjoy batting here. However, the cloudy and breezy conditions could assist the medium pacers in getting lateral movement and the spinners to get some drift.

Weather

The weather will be cloudy (cloud cover of 100%) and breezy with temperature of about 29 degrees Celsius. There is 42% chance of rain.
