WNS Global Service (A) advance to the final of ‘C’ division in the 48th Thanevaibhav Inter Office Cricket Tournament
In a one-sided affair, WNS Global Service (A) thrashed Saraswat Bank by 146 runs in the ‘C’ division semi-final of the 48th Thanevaibhav Inter Office Cricket Tournament on Wednesday at the Dadoji Konddeo Stadium.
Riding on twin half-centuries from opening batter Tasyam Chavan (65 runs from 50 balls) and Akshay Majgaonkar (65 runs from 61 balls), who batted at number three, WNS Global Service (A) posted a daunting total of 269/6 in 35 overs. Chavan and Majgaonkar smashed eight fours and two sixes each. Among the Saraswat Bank’s bowlers, right arm speedster Rajesh Sable was the pick of the bowlers as he scalped 2/46 in six overs.
Chasing 270 runs for a win and a place in the final, Saraswat Bank were bowled out for 123 in 33.1 overs and lost the match by 146 runs. Ranjit Nalawade, who batted at number eight, top-scored for Saraswat Bank with 23 runs from 49 balls. Earlier in the day, he claimed 1/23 in three overs. Off spinner Ashutosh Ghagre wreaked havoc with the ball for WNS Global Service (A) as he picked a five-wicket haul. Ghagre conceded just 11 runs in 6.1 overs, including a maiden.
