VPM’s Polytechnic Transitions to Engineering College
Vidya Prasarak Mandal’s Polytechnic has received AICTE approval to convert into an Engineering College affiliated with the University of Mumbai starting the 2024-2025 academic year, offering programs in Computer Engineering, IT, Automation and Robotics, Electrical Engineering and Electronics and Telecommunication. The new engineering college has all necessary infrastructure, including four buildings spanning 10,000 square meters with classrooms, laboratories, a well-equipped library, and other facilities.
Keeping in view the need of an engineering college in the city of Thane, Vidya Prasarak Mandal’s Polytechnic, affiliated with the Maharashtra State Technical Education Board, is converting into an engineering college from the 2024-2025 academic year, following 40 years of quality education. This transition has received approval from the All India Technical Education Council.
Vidya Prasarak Mandal’s Polytechnic has been recognized for its commitment to quality technical education, receiving accreditation from the National Board of Accreditation in 2004, 2017, 2019 and 2023 (valid until June 30, 2026). The institute has won the ISTE Narsee Monjee Award for “Best Technical Education” in 2009 and 2015 and the ISTE Best Student Chapter Award for Maharashtra-Goa Division in 2009, 2017 and 2020. Two Electrical Power Systems laboratories have earned the MSBTE “Best Labs Award.” Additionally, the Ministry of Education and AICTE selected the Polytechnic to mentor 50 institutes, and it received AICTE MODROBS grants in 2005 and 2022 for IoT and Power System labs.
Established in 1935, Vidya Prasarak Mandal educates over 18,000 students. Dr. Vijay Bedekar ensures ongoing commitment to quality engineering education.
