Thane Police Crack Down on Corrupt Officers Misusing Position
Two Thane police constables, Akash Surve and Harshad Parab, were dismissed for stealing and selling mobile phone data. They accessed data for personal gain and sold it to a criminal, Mohammad Sohail Rajput, who was arrested. The data was used for extortion. Both cops were caught by Thane Cyber Police, and a formal case has been registered. They were earlier suspended and have now been permanently removed from service. The accused had joined the police force in 2014 and 2018 respectively.
