TMC schools will be sanitized free of cost
As the COVID-19 induced restrictions are slowly and steadily easing, there are signs that schools in Mumbai and Thane will start soon as per the state government’s directive. Following a request by Education Board Committee Chairman Yogesh Jankar, Star One Pest Control Services has agreed to disinfect 124 municipal schools in Thane and provide pest control free of cost.
Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) has 124 schools. All of these schools have been closed since the outbreak of COVID-19 in March 2020. Online learning has been going on for the last 10 months. Although schools in other parts of the state have been started in phases, restrictions on schools in the Mumbai metropolitan area remain in place. Over the past month, as the number of cases has been declining, the idea of starting physical schools in the area has begun. The state government is expected to issue instructions in the coming days. But before that, it is important to instill in parents the belief that school is safe. Only then will they send their children to school. Therefore, it is imperative to fully sanitize the school buildings, provide sanitizers for daily use in the schools, supply masks to the students and other safety measures. Education Committee Chairman Yogesh Jankar reviewed the matter in a meeting recently.
Jankar had approached Parashuram Sutar and Swapnil Amre, directors of Star One Pest Control Services, to sanitize the school buildings. It was expected to cost up to Rs. 1 crore to sanitize all school buildings. However, at the request of Jankar, Star One Pest Control has indicated its readiness to provide free pest control with this work and the company has also submitted a letter to the Board of Education.
Although the financial situation everywhere has bleak due to the COVID-19 induced lockdown, many are still reaching out for help through social awareness. The helping hand extended by Star One Company for the safety of students in municipal schools is invaluable to us, said Education Committee Chairman Yogesh Jankar.
