Thane’s central jail, currently located at Thane Fort, will be moved to Padgha, making way for the city’s largest park. The historic site, which houses over 10,000 prisoners, has faced overcrowding issues. Proposed by Najeeb Mulla and approved by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, this transformation will honour the site’s legacy while providing green space for residents.
