Thane Municipal Elections Postponed to Next Year Voting Expected in Early 2026.
The Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) elections are not likely to be held this year. According to sources, the voting may now happen in early 2026. Due to delays in ward structuring and pending approvals from the State Election Commission, the final voter list for TMC may take longer. A senior official informed that the election process will be divided into three phases for the state, including municipal and local body elections. For Thane, the work of ward restructuring is nearly complete. Once the Nagar Vikas (Urban Development) department gives approval, the final steps will be sent to the State Election Commission. Additionally, preparations are ongoing for the June 1, 2025 Assembly elections, and voter lists will be updated accordingly. If all approvals are received on time, elections may happen by March 2026. Until then, citizens will have to wait.
