Thane district wins Dharmaveer Late Anand Dighe Saheb Disabled Cricket Cup

In view of World Disability Day, celebrated on December 3 every year, Dharmaveer Late Anand Dighe Saheb Disabled Cricket Cup was organised at the Central Maidan in Thane on November 24 and 25. Thane district team emerged victorious in the tournament, which saw Raigad, Nagpur, Mumbai, and Madhya Pradesh participate.

Suresh Dudhane, Founder-Chairman of Apang Sanjeevani Navjivan Kalyankari Sanstha and President of Thane Cricket and Sport Association for Disabled is disabled in his right hand. For the last year, he dreamt of a state-level disability cricket tournament in Thane district. He worked hard day and night and fulfilled that dream with the help of Thane’s cricket Dronacharya Shashikant Naik. Dharmaveer Late Anand Dighe Saheb Disabled Cricket Cup has achieved the dual objective of holding a state-level tournament in the Thane district and encouraging disabled cricketers.

Also, Shashikant Naik formed the Thane district team for this competition by providing free training. Suresh Dudhane was appointed as the captain. He led the Thane Cricket and Sports Association for Disabled from the front.

Nikhil Budjade (District Chief Shiv Sena Medical Aid Cell) felicitated the winning Thane district team. During the prize distribution ceremony, Naik expressed his wish to organise three such competitions in the future. He also suggested names for the same: Balasaheb Thackeray Disable Cup, Disabled Champions Trophy and Disabled IPL.
