Tempo driver’s son selected for Vijay Merchant Trophy

Badlapur’s Himanshu Singh has been selected for the Vijay Merchant Trophy in Mumbai Cricket Association’s under-16 team. Himanshu is a player of Badlapur’s PASF Cricket Academy and he will play in this tournament starting from December 1.

Himanshu is a bowler and was selected after performing well in the recently held Kalpesh Koli Selection Tournament. Earlier, he had performed brilliantly in the Harris Shield tournament playing for the General Education School, Chembur.

India’s pace sensation Mohammed Shami’s bowling has influenced Himanshu. Himanshu’s father is a tempo driver. Given his humble financial background, it was difficult for him to seek formal coaching. “However, PASF Cricket Academy took care of things like his cricket kit, fitness, school admissions, personal training,” said Rohan Raje, who is a mentor at PASF academy and former IPL and Mumbai Ranji Trophy player. Kiran Ramayne is the head coach of Himanshu.

Himanshu’s selection will inspire other players from Badlapur to play at the highest level.
