TCC celebrates its 10th anniversary with 12 hours of cricket at Ovala’s Axis Turf

On September 25, the 10th edition of the Turf Cricket Championship (TCC) was played at the Axis Turf in Ovala. To commemorate the 10th year, the organisers decided to pull off a unique feat. The tournament lasted almost 12 hours, having kick-started at 10.30 AM. A total of 72 players, divided into eight teams, participated in the competition.
Players from different age groups took part in the event. A nominal participation fee covered the player’s lunch and refreshments. The auction for the competition was organised by Rohit Jaiswal, Akhil Shetty, and other committee members one week before the event day. The committee chose eight captains, gave each one a thousand points, and instructed them to use those points to assemble a squad of nine players.

The Cric Heroes app was used to maintain scores during the match. It also assisted in tracking players’ statistics, which finally helped choose the winners of awards like Man of the Match, Best Batsman, Best Bowler, Best Fielder, and Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the tournament.

The Finals of the TCC saw Team Pritesh locking horns against Team Sagar. It was a riveting contest, with Team Sagar handing a defeat to Team Pritesh to clinch the championship. Both the finalists were presented with a team trophy and individual medals.

The awards for Best Batsman, Best Bowler, Best Fielder, and Most Valuable Player of the tournament were also announced. Pritesh Poojary won the MVP of the tournament and the best batsman award, Prasad Pitale bagged the best bowler prize, and Mihir Mahadik was declared the best fielder award.
