Dr Lucky Kasat –
Neerja Bhanot Women courage celebration day was conducted online by Rotary Rotaract District 3142 of Thane to honor the courage of Neerja Bhanot, a head purser who was shot dead point blank by the terrorist while she was saving passengers on Pan Am Flight 73 which was hijacked during a stopover in Karachi on 5 September 1986, just two days before her 23rd birthday. She was bestowed India’s highest peacetime gallantry award, the Ashoka Chakra posthumously, becoming its youngest recipient. Her heroism inspired the biopic Neerja in 2016.
A AV on Neerja Bhanot was highlighted in the event organized by Rotary club of Ambarnath and Rotaract club of Ambarnath (Convener Rajesh Chalwadi, President Gunwant Bhangale and supported by Dr Dhande, Apeksha and Aishwarya Warke).
