Smt. Sulochanadevi Singhania school conducts two-day International Film Festival

When the entire world is grappled with COVID-19, there are a host of events that have been either cancelled or organized online. In view of this, one of the leading schools in Thane, Smt. Sulochanadevi Singhania school did not step back, as it hosted a two-day International Film Festival on 21st and 22nd November online. 16 short films based on Panchatantra tales were a part of this presentation.

This extravagant Film festival, spanning across two days showcased 10 Sulonian and 6 Polish movies and was broadcasted on the school’s own YouTube Live platform.

Smt. Sulochanadevi Singhania school has always strived to encourage and give impetus to the creativity and imagination of students, and this International event was held for the very first time to achieve this. The Dierctor-Principal of Smt. Sulochanadevi Singhania School, Mrs. Revathi Srinivasan says, “We wish for a holistic development of our students. We want them to master various pursuits along with excelling academically. Nowadays we see that many children are lost behind their phone screens, and this was our attempt to hone their artistic capabilities and sensibilities. After watching the films, I can confidently and proudly assert that our project has been hugely successful.”

This Film Festival dedicated the students work to distinguished Film epic-personalities like the Father of Indian cinema – Dadasaheb Phalke, distinguished Polish filmmaker Roman Polanski, and the famous Bharat Ratna awardee and Oscar winner, director Satyajit Ray as well as Andrej Wayda.

“The School has always believed in Think Global, Act Local. And this Film Festival has brought home this very thought through this international student collaboration. This initiative has enabled us to broaden the horizons of our students”, said Mrs. G.Vaijayanthi the Head of International Collaborations of the School.
