Way back in 1987 when beauty was not a need but a luxury, Ms Sarla Rao, decided to pull a rabbit out of a hat when she set out to traverse on a relatively untraversed path. Sarla’s Spa, Salon, and Academy was born. Today after successfully completing 32 years, Sarla’s has earned the reputation of being one of the best sources of happiness among women in and around Thane.

The former banker, who spent 14 years of her life working in Dubai and India, had absolutely no clue that she would end up being the source of happiness for thousands of women. Her education in Economics and Psychology may have helped her in business, since understanding the consumer’s psyche and business economics forms the essential ingredients of a venture’s success.

Ms Rao was also proud to say that her Schooling Education in Marathi has been an asset for her venturing in Thane.

Being inspired by a successful beautician friend from Dubai, Ms. Rao chose to venture in beauty profession. With no background in business and in beauty; Ms Sarla Rao set out on an exciting expedition for a decent living and earning; and to carve a name for herself in the grooming profession and put Thane on the beauty map of the world.

“In 1987, when I was doing Interiors for my very first Salon in Thane, many people were intrigued about my individually dedicated activity in setting up the business. Eventually they realized that I was starting a Salon exclusively for Women. Today I feel happy to share that probably being impressed; these people were my initial publicists as they recommended their female family members to experience the services offered by my Salon,” stated Ms Rao.

The paradigm shift that a woman undergoes the moment she steps into Sarla’s and the moment she steps out speaks volumes of the brand that Ms Rao has relentlessly built over the last 32 years. In 1986, Ms Rao graduated in Aesthetics and Electrolysis from Steiner’s Beauty School in London. Thereafter she upgraded her skills in Hair Dressing from Singapore, Spa technologies from Bangkok, Premium Skin & Body Training from reputed International brand in Paris. As also; acquired Alexandrite Laser training from USA. Sarla’s pioneered in top of the line technologies such as; Micro Current, Micro Derma abrasion, Skin Eclat, etc.

“Teaching and sharing education being my forte; I imparted all this knowledge to my Therapists. Also they all have been upgraded consistently on the latest and the new. All our therapists have been trained by reputed International brands such as L’Oreal, Remy Laure, O3, Janssen and LYN Nail Designers,” said Ms Rao. This education system benefits Sarla’s clients in receiving highly professional services.

Ms Rao added, “Apart from professional education and services, Sarla’s consistent success of 32 years is attributed to healthy relation with their loyal and valued clients.”

Talking about Attitude of Gratitude, being the base of her persona, Ms Rao said, “In the initial days, my brother Mr Ravi Rao, Trade Unionist and former Corporator, stood behind me like a rock and gave me the confidence to think big. Also, I would like to thank my adorable team which is no less than a family and our Chief Executive Mr Aniruddha Joshi, for their great efforts in Sarla’s success. We all together are Sarla’s.”

Apart from running one of the most popular beauty salons in Thane, Ms Sarla is an active educationist as she runs her own Skin & Hair academy to train the ladies in the field of Beauty and Hair dressing.

“We impart Professional & Personal Diploma and Certificate Courses in Beauty Therapy, Hair Dressing, Spa Therapy, Personal Grooming, Bridal and Personal Make-up and Mehendi Designing,” described Ms Rao.

Another feather to Ms Sarla’s beautiful cap is that she has delivered a plethora of lectures on the topic “Beauty and Beyond” on Television, stage events and you can see her videos on various social platforms, such as YouTube and Facebook where the beauty expert has unravelled some of the interesting facts about beauty. “Words and beauty share some kind of relationship with each other. For instance; positive and negative words and our thought process can be responsible for our looks and personalities,” averred Ms Sarla.

Ms Rao expressed her immense gratitude towards her family, friends, well-wishers and valued Clients for their Patronage over the years. “I always wanted to contribute in Women’s lives. Today after completing 32 years in the business of serving women, when I look back, I feel totally complete.
