The signal shala located at Teen Hath Naka in Thane, and run jointly by Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) and NGO Samartha Bharat Vyaspeeth gives wings to the dreams of many students who cannot afford regular school.
While signal shala is a success story in itself, what is inspiring for one and all is the achievement of Mohan Kale, a student of the signal school, who followed his dream, completed a Diploma in electrical engineering, and is now employed with eureka Forbes.
Kale, like many, came to the city from the drought-hit region of Marathwada in 2013 to earn a living, but he never left the love for the books. He used to sell toys and umbrella at Teen Hath Naka signal and joined the traffic school in 2016.
Talking about his incredible journey kale said, “ I had been to school till 7th in my village and wanted to study ahead, with no proper facility in the village I came in thane and sold stuff at the signal to support my living. I enquired about the traffic school and got admitted to 8th grade. The teachers and others helped me a lot and I secured 77 percent in boards.”
“I managed both my work and studies and even got support from teachers. There were days when I could not attend the classes because of work but special teachers made things happen for me. The technical training made my dream come true. I finally feel that burning midnight oil was all worth it,” he said.
Bhatu Sawant the CEO of school is happy at the achievement and says we welcome every child who wants to fly high.
