Shweta Jadhav becomes the 2nd centurion for Mizoram in Senior Women’s One Day Trophy

On January 8, Mizoram’s Shweta Jadhav became just the second player, after Sandhya Kumari (159 vs Arunachal Pradesh in the season of 2018-19) in the history of the state’s cricket to score a century in Senior Women’s One Day Trophy.

Shweta, a left-handed opening batter, who played for Maharashtra, Railways, and Uttar Pradesh before, at the domestic level, scored 108 runs off 134 balls against Vidarbha. The 38-year-old’s innings was laced with 15 fours. The Mizoram’s captain led from the front as she was the only player for her team, which was bundled out for a paltry 157 in 45.3 overs, to score in double digits. The southpaw batted right till the end and was the last batter to be dismissed in the 46th over.

Since 2021, Shweta has been playing for Mizoram. Though her team has not started the tournament well losing three of the three matches played, she would want to put a tough fight in the remainder of the competition.
