Shravan Fasting Season Rushes Non-Vegetarian Eaters on Sunday.

Long queues at chicken, mutton shops; fish markets also crowded.

As the holy month of Shravan begins on July 25, people who eat non-vegetarian food got only two days — Sunday and Wednesday — before the fasting period starts. Due to this, a huge rush was seen on Sunday at chicken and mutton shops in Thane. Long queues formed outside meat shops till afternoon. Fish markets were also extremely crowded. Many people began preparations early Sunday morning for their meals. Along with meat shops, fish markets and even wine shops saw high footfall. Shops selling traditional items like “kothimbir vadi” and “amboli” also witnessed heavy demand as people enjoyed their last non-veg meal before starting religious fasting.
