Shashikant Kadam’s all-round brilliance steers TMC to a win in the 48th Thanevaibhav Inter Office Cricket Tournament
Captain Shashikant Kadam excelled with bat and ball to steer Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) to a six-wicket win over L&T on Friday at Central Maidan in the 48th Thanevaibhav Inter Office Cricket Tournament.
Winning the toss and electing to field first, TMC bowled out L&T for 163 in 34.2 overs. Nandan Kamath (3/20) and Kadam (3/23) were the most successful bowlers for the TMC as they scalped three wickets each. While Sumit Mhatre (62 runs from 39 balls) was impressed with a fluent half-century, his effort went in vain as the rest of his teammates from L&T could not contribute significantly.
Chasing 164 for a win, Kadam led the run chase from the front and played a captain’s innings. He smashed an undefeated 68 from 48 balls, including seven fours and three sixes. He stitched a crucial 113-run partnership with Prathik Prabhu (35 not out from 45 balls) for the fifth wicket and overhauled the target in 23.4 overs with six wickets in hand. For L&T, Ruchit Ahuja (3/45) was the only bowler to pick wickets, as none of the other bowlers managed to get the wicket column ticking.
