Sharvi Save shines with a half-century and 3-wicket haul

Sharvi Save, captain of Palghar Dahanu Taluka Sports Association, scored a scintillating half-century and picked three wickets against Dilip Vengsarkar Foundation on Wednesday in the third match of the fifth edition of the Late Arjun Madhvi Women’s Trophy in Thane. However, her valiant effort went in vain as her team fell shy of 43 runs chasing 229.

Batting first, Dilip Vengsarkar Foundation posted 228/9 in 40 overs. Former India player and captain of the team, Punam Raut led from the front with a stellar 78 off 75, smashing nine fours. Besides Raut, Sara Samant (28) and Anisha Shetty (30) were the other major contributors with the bat. Though the leg spin twins in Sharvi Save (3/34) and Yayati Gavad (4/50) struck at regular intervals, sloppiness in the field costed Palghar Dahanu Taluka Sports Association the match.

In response, Palghar Dahanu Taluka Sports Association were restricted to 185/9 in 40 overs. Sharvi, who opened the batting, dazzled with a 67-ball 81, hammering 11 fours and a six. She failed to find able allies as wickets tumbled all around her. Snehlata Dhangada (26) and Lipi Deep (26) showed some resistance but they too perished against the run of play. Aditi Surve (2/22), Siddhi Pawar (2/31), and Kritika Krishnakumar (2/43) were impressive with the ball as they scalped two wickets apiece.

Having conceded a defeat against Dilip Vengsarkar Foundation, Palghar Dahanu Taluka Sports Association have made their way out of this tournament.
