A Thane resident  who waded his way in serpentine traffic snarl was shocked when he realised that a serpent was accompanying him.
The man on his way to Mulund on Saturday, was shocked that a python had curled itself in the cavity under the handle of the two wheeler.
The biker unknowingly rode his motorcycle while the 2ft long python was under the bike’s handle cover. He noticed the snake when he reached Mulund and removed his bike’s keys and lifted the cover.
He then immediately made distress call to NGO Resqink Association for Wildlife Welfare (RAWW).
Ravi Suryavanshi, rescuer from RAWW, safely rescued the reptile and released it later into the wild after coordinating with the forest department.
The NGO has appealed to the citizens to be alert about their surroundings especially during monsoon as the cold creatures like snakes tend to come out in search of warm and dry places in order to regulate their body temperature. Hence, during monsoon, these reptiles are  found displaced at unusual & odd places like a metre box, vehicles, toilets etc. as they are dry and warm space for them to take shelter amid the heavy downpour.
