School Kids Get Their Hands Muddy with Paddy Farming, Water Management Lessons Follow.

Students of Saraswati Vidya Mandir School in Naupada had a different kind of classroom experience — in the middle of a rice paddy field. On Saturday, July 5, they got a hands-on taste of farming life as they participated in actual rice planting under the guidance of the Anantashram Institute. The initiative was part of a special program to help students understand the importance of agriculture, the hard work farmers put in, and the real value of the food we eat. In the coming days, students will also learn about traditional water management methods that support sustainable farming. The idea is to give urban students practical exposure to rural life, especially those from modest economic backgrounds. By stepping into the shoes of farmers, even for a day, they gain real insight into agriculture and nature’s role in our lives. The school believes that this unique activity will not just educate but inspire — helping build a generation that appreciates both the environment and the effort behind every grain of rice.
