The seeds of Puraniks Builders foundation were laid in 1968 more than half a century ago. In conversation with Shailesh Puranik, Managing Director at Puranik Builders a second-generation entrepreneur, he reminisces, “It all started in 1968, when my father, along with his two brothers got into the construction business. My father Gopal Puranik worked as an architect with BARC and lived in a chawl in Bandra. With a dream to have an ownership home, my father came to Thane and bought a plot. He built 12 flats in the eastern part of the city. Keeping two flats for himself, he contemplated selling the remaining 10 flats.Fortunately, those 10 flats got sold like hot cakes. Ploughing back the money from the sale of those flats, my father and his brothers bought another plot and the seeds of our real estate business were planted.”

“Right from my childhood, I was fascinated by buildings. I always dreamt of developing big buildings, which would have lifts, swimming pool, club house, and other state of the art amenities,” elucidates Shailesh.

Today, Shailesh and his three brothers are running the show at Puranik Builders Limited. The first cousins have divided the work among themselves and their strong camaraderie reflects in the strong growth of the company and vast array of ongoing projects.

The second generation have capitalized on the start given by the first generation and today Puranik Builders has marched on to become a leading reliable trustworthy real estate company and brand bringing joy to its numerous stakeholders. Over the last two decades, the company has successfully developed more than 4.21 lakh sq.mt while over 9.88 lakh sq.mt. is under construction. Puraniks are an epitome of trust, quality, innovationand discipline. Their commitment to integrity and trust has made the name synonymous with quality construction and ultra-modernism.  Their projects boast of environment friendly solutions to conserve non-renewable energy resources. Using wind mills solar water heaters, solar lights and more, is a common practice at clubhouses, swimming pools, podiums and other areas. They have strived to achieve international standards of excellence with utmost focus on customer satisfaction.

Puranik Builders have already completed a plethora of successful projects in Thane, Pune and Lonavala. Every project has been well-thought and executed with a keen eye of precision. These projects spell a grand fusion of luxury, comfort and offer great value for money. Every facet of the project is a cut above and has garnered timeless appreciation in both – value and identity. Since its inception, the Puraniks projects have sported innovation, quality and uniqueness to be their core strength. Puranik Builders take pride in offering excellence and innovation consistently.

Some of the unique features in its residential homes that the group offers are, theme-based homes, unshared walls, Juliet balcony, among many. Shailesh avers, “We started with theme-based homes over 10 years back. With the aim of giving our customers a global lifestyle, we introduced this concept. Till now, we have completed three theme-based projects, namely, Tokyo Bay (Japanese) and Rumah Bali (Indonesian) in Thane and Aldea (Spanish) in Pune.” For example, inspired by the Japanese culture, at Tokyo Bay, there is a Zen Garden which has beautiful trees, plants and shrubs encircling charming bridges built over manicured raked gravel that are lit up after the sun sets by hanging lanterns. Then there is a Tea House, which is nestled amidst the groves, and a Fire Garden, which is an ensemble of vibrant flowers, lanterns, sculptures and installations set within the gardens to offer a fiery spectacle.

Puranik Builders are amongst the pioneers of theme-based homes in India. Apart from this, the group has also introduced the concept of unshared wall, which means that the neighbours will have no common walls and each family will get the feel of an independent home. Additionally, in Pune, the group has come up with a unique concept of Juliet balcony, which refers to a standing balcony.  Based on William Shakespeare’s Romeo-Juliet, the balconies are designed in a classical way.

Puranik group have not only been building homes that have secured the trust of thousands of families, they also pride themselves in lending a helping hand to the community with their CSR initiative, Puraniks Samarpan.

Shailesh elaborates, “Under Puraniks Samarpan, we’ve employed innovative technology for waste management and environmental sustainability. Polyfuel is an inventive mechanism designed to convert inorganic plastic waste into oil. It’s an initiative designed to help all of us better the environment. And just like our homes, it’s an idea that stays with you.”

Talking about his future plans, Puranik, concludes, “In the coming years, we will look to develop and grow in the MMR (Mumbai Metropolitan Region) and PMR (Pune Metropolitan Region), since these two areas have a lot of scope. Also, we would like to expand and diversify our presence in these regions.”
