Mumbai register a sensational 2-run win over Hyderabad
In a nail biting thriller, Mumbai defeated Hyderabad by just two runs on Sunday at the Airforce Complex Ground, Palam II, New Delhi, in the Senior Women’s One Day Tournament to qualify for the knock outs.
Batting first, Mumbai scored 182/8 in 35 overs in the match that was delayed due to fog. Opening batter Riya Chaudhari (50 runs off 57 balls) and captain Humairaa Kaazi (50 runs off 53 balls) struck fluent half centuries. Sayali Satghare also chipped in with a useful knock of 42.
Defending 182 against a powerful Hyderabad batting line up, Mumbai managed to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat as they bowled out their opposition for 180 on the second last ball of the game. Janhvi Kate claimed 3/30 in her seven overs and received good support from Jagravi Pawar (2/35) and Kaazi (1/11). The bowlers were complimented by excellent fielding as there were four run outs.
Mumbai will play their last league match of the tournament against Uttarakhand on January 16 at Jamia Milia Islamia in New Delhi.
