Maharashtra Assembly Passes Public Safety Bill Unanimously.

Major step to curb Naxalite activities in the state.

The Maharashtra Public Safety Bill was unanimously passed in the state assembly after much discussion. The bill aims to control anti-national and Naxalite activities more effectively. After objections from the opposition, Home Minister Devendra Fadnavis addressed concerns and clarified that the bill does not allow arbitrary arrests. Only members of banned organizations will face action. The bill was presented after a committee led by Speaker Chandrakant Bawankule reviewed it. Over 12,500 suggestions were considered. Fadnavis emphasized that the law ensures national security and follows legal processes, unlike in some other states. While some members opposed the bill, the government assured transparency and fairness. The aim is not to suppress anyone but to protect public safety and stop violent activities. Fadnavis also said, “We don’t intend to misuse the law. It’s for protecting the people and state from threats.”
