Let’s Get Back to Our Roots with Kokan Bazaar
Nestled in Vasant Vihar, Kokan Bazar stands as a testament to tradition, passion and action; a venture born from a vision of a young couple with corporate backgrounds, a venture to preserve and celebrate the legacy of their culinary heritage as well as expand their 15 year old family business.
Kokan Bazar’s Co-founders, Sanjay and Devika Khadaapkar’s vision is to reignite the authentic flavours of yesteryears, reminiscent of the painstaking efforts and traditional cooking methods passed down through generations.
At Kokan Bazar, the essence of Malvani cuisine is lovingly recreated using traditional methods. Authentically co-creating a variety of products with farmers & women entrepreneurs from Konkan offers a nostalgic journey for those craving the taste of home-cooked meals from their childhood.
Kokan Bazar does not simply sell culinary delights; it gives a platform to traditional arts and crafts too, seeking to revive skills like wood-carving, stone-carving and painting. By collaborating with local artisans and providing fair compensation, Kokan Bazar aims to preserve and promote the dwindling art forms.
From groceries like salt, rice, millets and dried fish to juices, squashes and pulps, the shop offers a treasure trove of Malvani delicacies. Visitors can also explore traditional Maharashtrian snacks, seasoned cast iron utensils and stone ware as well as uniquely carved wooden and stone articles, perfect for gifting or adorning their homes. Kokan Bazar has recently started with a take-away menu, offering truly authentic Malvani dishes as well as dishes of Maharashtrian origin.
Kokan Bazar isn’t just a store; it’s a cultural hub where tradition meets innovation, ensuring that the rich heritage of Konkani cuisine and artistry continues to thrive for generations to come.
