Kalyan’s Sushant Karandikar cycles to 100 forts in 20 years
Kalyan’s Sushant Karandikar has had a unique record to his name as he completed a landmark achievement of cycling to 100 forts in Maharashtra in the last 20 years. He started in 2001 on New Year’s eve.
Under the Sahyadri Cycle Campaign, Sushant cycled to various forts in Maharashtra and welcomed the New Year in a very different way. This year’s New Year was welcomed at Ghosalgad, Talagad, Mangada along with Raigad, known as the capital of Swarajya. This was the 100th fort in the Sahyadri cycle expedition. Along with Sushant Karandikar, Krishna Naik, Deepali Kampali, Divakar Bhatwadekar, Varad Marathe, Chinmayi Dhawale, Mann Naik and Divik Kampali were present. Sushant Karandikar said that all of them completed the expedition of these four forts by cycling 290 km.
So far Sushant Karandikar has covered forts like Rajgad, Panhalgad, Vishalgad, Kalsubai, Naneghat, Lohgad, Visapur, Tikona, among many. Karandikar said that this campaign has been going on continuously for the last 20 years and he and his fellow mates are working hard to promote mountain biking in the country as well as abroad.
