Invincible India Women’s U19 (B) continue their dominance

India Women’s U19 (B) have not put a foot wrong in the Women’s U19 T20 Triangular Series. The Niki Prasad led side registered a hat-trick of wins on Monday as they beat South Africa Women’s U19 by four wickets in Pune.

Leading from the front, Prasad smashed an unbeaten 49 off 33 to make light work of the 133-run target set by the visitors. G Kamalini (11) and Bharti Upadhyay (23) gave a steady start, with the latter then stitching a crucial 58-run partnership with the skipper. For the tourists, Kayla Reyneke, Nthabisend Nini, Fay Cowling, Luyanda Nzuza, and Seshnie Naidu picked up one wicket apiece but that wasn’t enough to restrict India Women’s U19 (B).

Early in the day, South African batters Deidre Van Rensberg (37), Chanel Venter (33), and captain Reyneke (27) got off to start but failed to capitalise as they were severely challenged by Supriya Arela, who snapped three wickets. Besides Arela, Nandhana Sridharan and Vaishnavi Sharma were the wicket-takers for hosts as they claimed one scalp each.

Brief Scores: South Africa Women’s U19 132/5 in 20 overs (D Van Rensberg 37; S Arela 3/21) lost to India Women’s U19 (B) 133/6 in 20 overs (N Prasad 49; L Nzuza 1/13) by 4 wickets
