Illegal and Risky Warehouses in Bhiwandi Now Under Radar

The Anjur Phata and Dapode areas in Bhiwandi have become a hub for large-scale illegal warehouses. These godowns, often built without proper permission, have sparked serious concerns due to lack of fire safety systems, violation of regulations, and overall risk to human lives.

To address the issue, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has directed the formation of a special task force involving the Revenue Department and the MMRDA. Strict action will now be taken not only against godown owners but also against sarpanchs and gram sevaks who failed to prevent such constructions under their jurisdiction.

CM Shinde gave these instructions after MLA Ravindra Chavan highlighted the issue in the state assembly. He stressed that the lives of common people cannot be put at stake for the sake of illegal businesses.

The illegal godowns have not only blocked roads and created traffic chaos but also pose severe hazards, especially during monsoon. This move by the government is seen as a strong step towards restoring law and order in Bhiwandi’s rapidly growing warehousing sector.
