ICC Men’s CWC 2023: Cricket World Cup returns to Pune after 27 years; it’s India v Bangladesh    

The 17th match of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 will be played between India and Bangladesh on October 19 at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune.

India and Bangladesh have played 40 ODIs against each other since 1988, of which India have won 31, Bangladesh have won eight, and one match did not produce a result. In India, these two teams have played three ODIs against each other between 1990 and 1998 and India have won all of them. Injury updates

There are doubts over the availability of Bangladesh’s captain Shakib Al Hasan for the upcoming match against India. Shakib suffered a left quad injury in his last outing against New Zealand in Chennai on October 13. On the other hand, India have no fitness concerns.

Playing conditions

Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune will host the encounter between India and Bangladesh. It will be a day night match. While Bangladesh will play their first ODI at this venue, India have played seven, winning four and losing three. The venue will host its first game of this tournament. So far, it has hosted seven ODIs, with teams batting first winning four and teams batting second winning three. The average first innings score is 307 and the average second innings score is 281. Players to watch out for

For India, captain Rohit Sharma has been in incredible form. Having missed out on a big score in the first match against Australia, Rohit has made a strong comeback in his next two games scoring 131 against Afghanistan and 86 against Pakistan. Among the bowlers, right arm medium pace bowler Jasprit Bumrah is the most successful for India with eight wickets in three matches. He has been bowling well with the new ball and also towards the fag end of the innings.

For Bangladesh, their wicket-keeper and right-handed middle order batter Mushfiqur Rahim has been the most prolific batter. He has scored 119 runs in three matches, including a couple of half centuries. Among the bowlers, Shoriful Islam has been impressive. The left arm medium pace bowler has claimed five wickets in three matches. He usually opens the bowling for Bangladesh or comes in as the first change.
