Players to watch out for
For India, Shubman Gill would have certainly been the player to watch out for, however, he is likely to miss the encounter as he is down with dengue. While there is no dearth of batting powerhouses in India, captain Rohit Sharma will be the one who will arguably grab the most attention. The right-handed opening batter is the second highest run scorer for India in ODIs this year with 658 runs at an average of 51 and strike rate of 110. Among the bowlers, Mohammed Siraj who is living in the world of his own after recording his ODI career best of 6/21 against Sri Lanka last month will be the key. The right arm medium fast bowler has claimed 30 wickets in his last 13 ODI innings.
Australia’s attacking left-handed opening batter, David Warner, whose second cricketing home is India will be important for the team’s batting success. The 36-year-old has a wealth of experience playing in the Indian conditions, thanks to the IPL of which he has been part since 2009. In his last nine ODIs, he has scored 390 runs at an average of 43 and strike rate of 119.
