ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 comes a full circle for India and Australia
India will play their fourth World Cup final on November 19, having won two of the three times. The Men in Blue will lock horns against the five-time world champions Australia at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. In-form India will step onto the field with a massive support of 130,000 fans at the stadium and a billion across the world watching the match in anticipation. The last time these two teams met in a 50-over World Cup final was in 2003, when Australia defeated India by 125 runs. Rahul Dravid was a part of the team then as a player and is a part of the team now as a coach. Can Dravid and India after 20 years settle scores with the mighty Australians? If India is successful, they will become the first team to host and win the World Cup twice.

Top 3 Batters and Bowlers
The fact that the top run scorer and leading wicket taker in this tournament are from India speaks volumes of the team’s dominance. Virat Kohli is sitting on top of the runs table with 711 runs and Mohammad Shami holds the numero uno position with 23 wickets. Not too far behind is Australia’s Adam Zampa with 22 wickets. However, in the batting department, apart from David Warner, who has 500+ runs and to some extent Mitchell Marsh (400+ runs), none of the other batters have been able to contribute much, let alone that miraculous double century from Glenn Maxwell.

When India and Australia played against each other the last time in this World Cup…
Quite interestingly, India and Australia started their World Cup campaign playing against each other and will now end the tournament in the same fashion. On October 8, the two teams met at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai when India thrashed Australia by six wickets chasing a modest target of 200 in 41.2 overs. David Warner and Steven Smith anchored the innings with scores of 41 and 46 respectively, however the spin twins in Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav, who shared five wickets between them were too hot to handle. India, in reply, despite losing their opening pair of captain Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan cheaply, Virat Kohli (87) and KL Rahul (97 not out) bailed the team out. Josh Hazlewood (3 wickets) and Mitchell Starc (1 wicket) bowled well with the new ball, however did not receive much support from others.

India’s Jasprit Bumrah (19/2 in seven overs) and Australia’s Adam Zampa (21/3 in 10 overs) won the player of the match awards for their brilliant bowling performances.
