In Thane, a 29-year-old hotel manager named Ankitkumar Yadav was arrested for allegedly running a sex racket under the guise of escort services. Based on a tip-off, a police team raided a lodge near Vandana Cinema on June 20 and caught him red-handed. Young girls were being sent to customers through online ads, and the deals were finalised via phone. The police also found that the accused used specific codes and missed calls to signal availability. Two girls were rescued during the operation, while two others managed to flee the scene. Authorities revealed that one girl had been lured from West Bengal. Police are now searching for others involved in this trafficking network. Further investigations are underway to crack the larger nexus behind the operation.
