Fake Dating Profiles Used to Scam Youth in Hotels.
International gang of 22 arrested, including 6 women.
An international gang was exposed for luring young men through fake female profiles on dating apps and scamming them in hotels. The gang would invite victims to hotels and trap them by charging high bills using QR codes and fake excuses. Police arrested 22 people in connection with the case, including 6 women. These women would chat with men, build trust, and then lure them into financial traps. One young man filed a complaint after being contacted on Tinder and called to a Borivali hotel, where he was tricked into paying ₹14,700 via QR code. Based on this, Navi Mumbai police raided a hotel, leading to the arrest of 15 men and 6 women from Ghaziabad and other parts of Uttar Pradesh.
