DTDC demolish Thane City Police by 8 wickets in the 48th Thanevaibhav Inter Office Cricket Tournament

Riding on Pratik Mishra’s four-fer, it took DTDC just over two hours to steamroll Thane City Police by eight wickets on Thursday at the Central Maidan during the 48th Thanevaibhav Inter Office Cricket Tournament. DTDC bowled out Thane City Police for a miserly 77 in 14.3 overs and later completed the formalities in just 9.4 overs to register an emphatic win.

The day’s star performer was Mishra, who opened the bowling for DTDC and scalped a wicket in the first over of the match. This right-arm speedster bowled six overs, including two maidens, conceded 21 runs and snapped four wickets. He found an able ally in his opening bowling partner, Shreyas Gurav, who claimed 3/11 in three overs, including two maidens.

Thane City Police, on the other hand, had an off day at the office as none of their batters managed to score big. The left-handed batter Gaurav Rathod was the top run scorer with 22 runs from 21 balls for the team that had participated in this competition after four years.

After the bowlers had done their job, it was up to the DTDC batters to complete it. The opening pair of Satyalaksha Jain (25 runs from 21 balls) and Gautam Waghela (22 not out from 23 balls) were the significant contributors with the bat in the run chase. While Yogesh Kshirsagar and Rathod looked good with the ball, picking one wicket each, they did not receive much support from the rest of the bowling attack.

Brief Scores: Thane City Police 77 all out in 14.3 overs (G Rathod 22; P Mishra 4/21) lost to DTDC 78/2 in 9.4 overs (S Jain 25; Y Kshirsagar 1/17) by 8 wickets
