Double Bonanza for Thane Badminton
Aman Farogh Sanjay and Revati Devasthale of Thane District have won the Gold Medal at the BWF Botswana international 2021 Badminton tournament in Botswana in Africa.
Aman, who is a trainee of TMC’s Syed Modi Badminton Academy, has won his second International Gold Medal by his extra ordinary and top class performance in the tournament. He has won his 1st International medal few weeks back in Benin International Tournament.
Revati Devasthale who represents Thane District has also won her very first International Gold Medal in Final’s close encounter with top seeded local player.
In the Semifinal of Men’s Singles Aman defeated Priyansh Khushwani of India in straight games at 21-18, 23-21 while Revati overcame the challenge of Kazakhstan’s Aisha Zumabek in three gruelling games at 21-9, 15-21, 21-9.
In the Mens Singles Final Aman defeated Naren Shankar Iyer of India in a tight match which went to the extra points and lasted for almost an hour. Aman won 25-23, 19-21, 23-21.
In the Womens Singles finals Revati defeated top seeded and the local favourite South African player Johanita Scholtz (ranked in the top 100 in the World). After losing the 1st game Revati fought back and prevailed over her fancied opponent at 18-21, 21-15, 21-13.
And fixed her very first International Gold Medal.
Head Coach of Thane academy Shri Shrikant Vad, Senior Coaches Shri Mayur Ghatnekar and Shri Akshay Dewalkar has congratulated both the players and wished both of them for next tournaments!
Inspite of rising Covid situation in South Africa, both the players has emerged as victorious and unbeatable and made everyone proud.
Guardian Minister of Thane Shri Eknath Shinde and Sports officer of Thane Municipal Corporation,Smt Minal Palande has praised both the players and wished them for their outstanding International victory.
