Diva’s Infrastructure at Breaking Point

The Diva-Shil Citizens’ Rights Committee submitted a memorandum today to the Thane Mayor, Deputy Mayor, Additional Commissioner, and Group Leaders, demanding immediate action against the unauthorised construction currently underway in many locations within the Diva Ward Committee limits. Despite the Mumbai High Court’s mandatory orders for the Municipal Corporation to take strict action against such structures, rules are being violated in several places. This raises safety concerns for the citizens and impacts the city’s urban planning.
In the Kalwa Creek area, the pace of construction has increased by filling the land with soil, creating a major threat to the environment. The mangroves near the Saket bridge on the Nashik Highway are being destroyed on a large scale for the construction of bungalows.
The committee has asked the relevant officials to conduct an immediate inspection and take stringent action against these unauthorised buildings. They further warranted that legal action will be taken against officials who fail to do so. Committee members Hira Patil, Adv Rohidas Munde, Sachin Patil, Prakash Patil, and other members were present.
