‘Corn’ banega Ganpati !
KYT Team
Last month, the Ganpati festival was celebrated with great enthusiasm across Thane. Sandhya Salunkhe, a resident of Bhakti Park, too celebrated the festival in style as she added a unique element to the celebration at her home.
Salunkhe, who has been making Ganpati decorations for the last 25 years, came up with a unique idea. This year, she made Ganpati decorations from maize. She used three and a half kilograms of popcorn for this. Though the concept of Ganpati decorations from maize seems interesting, the challenge for Sandhya was to keep the material used fresh for six days.
While talking to KYT, Salunkhe said, “I think my Ganpati decorations made from maize looked fresh through six days only because of His blessings. Usually, maize lasts for one to two days. Despite this, I wanted to challenge myself and make decorations from maize that could last longer. I have never been fond of artificial decorations. My emphasis has always been on eco-friendly products.”
An MBA by qualification, Sandhya’s work was well-appreciated by her family, other relatives, and friends. She added, “I am blessed to have a supportive family. My husband, Kumar, and son, Sarthakkumar, have stood behind me like a rock. Their encouragement motivates me to develop new ideas and execute them.”
