It is now confirmed that the upcoming bullet train between Mumbai and Ahmedabad will take a halt at Thane. The bullet train will halt between Betwade and Agasan village near Dombivli. Thane district collectorate has started land acquisition in the aforementioned area. Since, there is no issue of displacement and resettlement of citizens in this location, acquisition of land can be completed with ease, say officials.
A 508 km long high-speed rail corridor connecting India’s economic hub Mumbai and Ahmedabad is being developed by the National High-speed rail corporation. Out of this 508 km stretch, 155 km lie within Maharashtra. The bullet train will halt at four stations in Maharashtra- BKC (Bandra Kurla Complex), Thane, Virar and Boisar. These four locations will witness rapid urbanization and industrial development which will generate employment opportunities.
The bullet train project is expected to get completed by the end of 2023. When completed it will be India’s first high speed rail line.
