Advertisement revenue from 350 TMT buses expected to be Rs. 10 crore
Rights will be provided for advertising on 350 buses that come under the purview of Thane Transport Service for next three years. It is expected that the advertisement revenue generated will be over Rs. 10 crore.
A proposal in this regard has been tabled for approval in the General Assembly on January 20. According to the new proposal, the transport service will get an income of Rs 10,11,72,024 for the next three years. The earlier tender would have resulted in lower revenue for transport. As a result, a new tender will be issued and the number of buses in the transport fleet has come down from 434 to 350 due to the delay in the advertisement proposal for the last three years.
The proposal to publish advertisements on 434 buses of Thane Transport fleet was put on the table for approval in the transport meeting in 2019. Accordingly, a tender was issued in this regard. But it got no response. It is noteworthy that the rates of other Municipal Corporations were also invited by the Corporation for this purpose. Some rates were then fixed as per negotiations. But the rates received were also found to be low. The list of 434 buses was also finalized. But due to non-response to the tender, the process has been stalled for the last two years.
Meanwhile, the transport administration has now come up with a new proposal in this regard. Accordingly, some changes have been made in the terms and conditions of the earlier proposal. Accordingly, the tender was issued for 434 buses earlier. But now, according to the new proposal, the number has gone up to 350.
