Heavy Vehicle Breakdown Triggers Massive Jam at Gaimukh Ghat

Traffic Chaos on Ghodbunder Road Leaves Drivers Stranded for Hours

A heavy vehicle broke down near Gaimukh Ghat on Ghodbunder Road around 9:30 a.m. on Monday, causing a major traffic jam. Vehicles piled up from Gaimukh to Fountain Hotel and Kokni Pada, severely affecting traffic movement.

Due to the jam, residents from Vasai, Virar, and Mira-Bhayandar heading towards Thane faced long delays. The stuck heavy vehicle blocked a narrow road section, worsening the congestion.

Thousands of vehicles were already using the Ghodbunder route, and the sudden halt led to four to five hours of traffic disruption. Despite efforts, traffic couldn’t be cleared even by 11:30 a.m.

Ongoing Metro and road works on nearby routes added to the problem. Emergency measures were taken, and vehicles were diverted, but the heavy load and road blockages made the jam worse.

Authorities are working to ease traffic and planning stricter control on heavy vehicle movement during peak hours.
