Action Against Ola, Uber, and Private Tourist Vehicles.
50 Vehicles Fined ₹1 Lakh Each for Rule Violation in Thane.
Ola, Uber, and app-based tourist taxis in the city have been found violating transport rules. Many vehicles were operating without proper permits and documents. In a special drive, the Thane Regional Transport Office (RTO) took action against 50 such vehicles and imposed fines of ₹1 lakh on each.
According to officials, the vehicles were operating without tourist permits, fitness certificates, or route approvals. Some vehicles had fake permits, and drivers were found unaware of the rules.
RTO officers stated that even regular passengers were using these services, unaware of their illegal operations. The RTO will continue strict checking for passenger safety and compliance.
The drive was carried out in areas like Ghodbunder Road, Teen Hath Naka, and Majiwada.
Key Issues:
•No valid documents
•Fake permits
•Unapproved routes
•Drivers unaware of rules
Strict action will continue, said RTO Officer Rohidas Kakatkar.
