No Mercy for Misbehaving Rickshaw Drivers; Women Strike Back!
Female passengers teach lesson to abusive and criminal auto drivers in Thane.
Women in Thane took a bold stand against misbehaving rickshaw drivers involved in overcharging, abuse, threats, and refusal of service. This action highlighted the growing menace in the local transport system. On Friday, a 30-year-old woman heading to a job interview was harassed by a driver near Diva station. When he refused to take her and verbally abused her, the woman fought back. Local women joined in, surrounding the rickshaw and calling the police. This isn’t an isolated case. Many women have faced similar harassment. Women’s groups have decided to act, warning that misbehavior won’t be tolerated. Drivers with criminal records are reportedly operating freely. The RTO and police have been urged to take strict action. In another incident, a driver who misbehaved with a student was caught and penalized after women reported him. Such courage is inspiring more women to speak up.
