Illegal Sale of Government Food Supplies: Three Booked in Bhiwandi.

A major scam involving the black-marketing of government-subsidised food grains meant for ration card holders has been exposed in Bhiwandi’s Ranjnoli area. Based on a complaint filed after a preliminary investigation, Kon Gaon police have registered a case against three individuals, including two shopkeepers and a truck driver. The accused—Piyush Thakkar, Ramesh Bhanushali, and truck driver Ravikishan Singh—were allegedly transporting food supplies meant for public distribution to be sold illegally in the black market. Acting on a tip-off, the police intercepted the truck, which was carrying food items worth around ₹1.14 lakh. The supplies were supposed to be distributed to ration card holders under proper government procedure. However, the truck was headed to Ranjnoli to offload the grains for unauthorised sale. The three have been booked under IPC Sections 420 (cheating), 3(5), and Section 3(7) of the Essential Commodities Act, 1955. Authorities are now conducting further investigation to identify how deep the black-market network runs.
