Mumbai rout Assam to enter the quarterfinals of Senior Women’s One Day Trophy
After bundling out Assam cheaply for 87 on Monday at Ahmedabad and chasing the target with nine wickets in hand, Mumbai advanced to the quarterfinals of Senior Women’s One Day Trophy.
Sayali Satghare (4/17) and Jagravi Pawar (3/11) scalped seven wickets between them to break the back of Assam’s batting. Maina Nara (11) and Jintimani Kalita (20) were the only two batters to score in double digits for Assam.
Putting up a ruthless show with the ball, Mumbai did not disappoint with the bat. They overhauled the target in 15.4 overs at the loss of one wicket. Opener Janhavi Kate (4) made her way back in the fourth over, courtesy of Nirupama Baro’s probing delivery. However, there were no further jitters as Riya Chaudhari (47 not out) and captain Humairaa Kaazi (33 not out) steered the side home.
With six wins in seven matches in the league stage, Mumbai have advanced to the quarterfinals and will be next seen in action on December 24 at Niranjan Shah Stadium Ground ‘C’ in Rajkot.
