Team C chase 184 to break Team E’s winning streak in Senior Women’s T20 Challenger Trophy

In a high scoring contest, Team C emerged victorious as they broke Team E’s two-match winning streak by beating them by six wickets, chasing 184 in 19.4 overs, on Saturday in Ranchi in the Senior Women’s T20 Challenger Trophy.

Team C captain Minnu Mani led the run chase from the front with a blistering knock of 65 from 41 balls. The right-handed batter plundered nine fours and two sixes in her match winning innings. After a fiery start from the opening pair of Shweta Sehrawat (23) and Vrinda Dinesh (35) who put together 59 runs in just 5.4 overs, Mani and Tripti Singh (30) took over and steered their side to an emphatic win. Wicket-keeper-batter Shipra Giri (22 not out) too played her part with a 15-ball cameo towards the end.  Prakashika Naik was the pick of the bowlers for Team E with two wickets but that was not enough to stop Team C batters who were firing on all cylinders.

Unlike their bowlers, Team E had a fantastic outing with the bat as they piled up a huge score of 183/3 in 20 overs. The wicket-keeper-batter from Uttarakhand, Nandini Kashyap starred with the bat with a 65-ball 94 run blitzkrieg. The opening batter hammered 15 fours to set a solid foundation. She found an able ally in her opening partner Raghavi Bisht (56), who is also from Uttarakhand, and stitched 138 run partnership. Of the three wickets that Team E lost, two were scalped by spinner Saranya Gadwal.

Despite the loss, Team E are sitting on top of the table with eight points from three matches. Similarly, Team C has eight points from four matches, but due to a lower net run rate find themselves at number three position.

Team C have played out all their league matches in this tournament, whereas Team E will play its last league match against Team B on Monday.
